Jigsaws
During the 1700´s toy making grew in popularity. In 1767 John Spilsbury invented the first jigsaw as a means of helping children learn geography. He created puzzles on eight geographical areas. These were the World, Europe, Asia, Africa, America, England and Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
At about the same time Rocking Horse were invented on bow rockers to develop balance for children to learn to ride a real horse. This was particularly popular amongst the wealthy of the day.
